  Prologue

  Savannah

“Senioritis is kicking in big time today,” Rivet whines as we walk towards our lockers. “Let’s just skip the rest of the day and hang out at the clubhouse.”

By clubhouse, she means the Savage Menaces MC clubhouse. The same MC my father, Bull, is the Prez of and my three older brothers, Shadow, Jager, and Hawk are full patched members. Why she would want to go there right now is beyond me.

“Do you want to get in trouble by all the brothers?” I question her. Every single brother would ream our asses if they caught us skipping. Such is life as an MC princess.

“I mean…,” she starts to respond but pauses to think about it. At the same time, my phone starts buzzing and distracts me. I look at it, confused.

“What’s wrong? Who is it?” she questions me.

“Kicks is texting me. He never texts me during school hours.”

Hawk is my youngest brother, and Kicks is his best friend. He might as well be my brother too. I open the text to see what he said.

From Kicks: Have you talked to Jager today?

“Why would I have talked to Jager?” I wonder out loud. Just as the words leave my mouth, a bad feeling washes over me. With shaky hands, I dial Pops’ number.

“Hey, babydoll,” he answers on the second ring. “Sketch and Rascal should be right outside the school. They’re going to follow you home. We’ll talk when you get here.”

“Okay, see you soon,” I respond and hang up. That doesn’t make me feel any better. The bad feeling still lingering, I open my locker and put my school books away.

“Well? What the fuck is going on?” Rivet asks, a touch of fear lacing her voice.

“All Pops said was that Sketch and Rascal are waiting outside to follow us back to the clubhouse. He was eerily calm.” I explain to her. I close my locker before turning to her to add, “I don’t know what happened, but it must have been bad if we need to be escorted home.” I link arms with her, and we start walking to the front of the school.

Rivet has been my best friend since we were babies. We’ve been each other’s rocks for as long as I can remember. And I know whatever comes next, I’ll have her right by my side.

We pull up to the clubhouse, and instantly something feels off. I get out of my car, my baby. It’s a 1970 matte black Chevelle SS that I helped Pops restore. It was my 16th birthday present, and she runs like a dream.

I’m standing in front of my car when Rivet comes to stand next to me. We stare at the clubhouse for a minute, hesitating to go any further. There have been so many issues with the Iron Lords MC recently, I’m not sure I want to hear what Pops has to say.

The clubhouse sits on about 200 acres, just west of the Austin city limits, and it was once a huge two-story cedar horse barn. When the original five Menaces bought the land, they had planned on building their own homes. Then they saw the barn and realized how perfect it would be to restore it and grow their club.

There’s a beautiful farmhouse about half a mile to the left of the clubhouse. It’s where my brothers and I grew up. The clubhouse has plenty of rooms for the brothers to live, and the majority of them do live here.

Sketch clears his throat, and we look to him. “Are y’all just gonna stand out here all day, or you think you’ll come inside,” he smarts off. Something definitely has him on edge.

Rivet links her arm in mine and says, “Let’s go. Whatever happens in there, we have each other. Always”

“And forever,” I respond, as we follow the guys inside.

It’s quiet— too quiet. Almost as if someone . .
. I gasp suddenly causing Rivet, Sketch, and Rascal to look at me. “Who died,” I ask Sketch with tears already forming in my eyes.

“I think you need to talk to Prez,” Sketch tells me.

“God damn it, Sketch. Just tell me,” I screech out at him just as Pops walks out.

“Babydoll, come sit down,” he says calmly, motioning for me to sit with him on the couch.

“I’m good standing, thanks,” I reply a little snarkily. Rivet squeezes my arm, just to remind me she’s at my side. My heart starts to race, and the more quiet everyone is, the more I start to freak out inside.

Pops hesitates before talking like he doesn't quite know how to say the next words. “There was a shootout with Iron Lords,” he starts. “Hawk was shot. He didn’t make it.”

I collapse on the floor with a scream, tears pour down my face. Rivet is on the floor with me. She must have tried to catch me. We’re both sobbing as I feel more people wrap their arms around us. It must be Sketch and Rascal. We all grew up together— Kicks, Hollywood, and Ace too. So this loss is as big for them as it is for Jager, Shadow, and I.

After what feels like hours, we all get up. Without saying anything to anyone, Rivet and I head to the house into my room. I feel absolutely numb. “Let’s leave after graduation,” I suggest. “It’s only a month away. We can leave, and never look back.”

She looks at me with what looks like excitement shining in her eyes. “You think Pops will let us?” she asks curiously.

“He’s not going to have a choice. We’ll be eighteen. But honestly, I think he’ll understand. We just need to pick a place we know he would approve of,” I tell her. Hawk was the youngest of my three brothers. Just two years older than me, he and I were the closest.

We set out making plans. In roughly a month, we’ll graduate and then make our big move. We’ll go somewhere far enough to be away from the grasp of the Savage Menaces, but someplace that has allies who will make sure we’re safe from any Menace rivals. We’ll have a fresh start, and we’ll even be able to date without any brothers, blood or club, chasing the guys away.

I can’t help but feel a little guilty for wanting to move away. With Shadow in jail for another six or so years, Pops will only have Jager. I told Rivet he would understand. I just hope he truly does. I can’t stay here after what happened to Hawk.

The next day, we head to the clubhouse for some breakfast. Rascal texted us to tell us a couple of the cut bunnies decided to make everyone breakfast. This would be the perfect time to announce our plans since most everyone is here.

“Rivet and I are moving to Tuscan, Arizona after graduation,” I announce.

  Chapter One

  Four Years Later . . .

  Raze

Leaving my apartment, I decide to take a different route to Savage Repairs, the club's shop. Saint and I share a two-bedroom apartment in case either of us needs a night away from the clubhouse chaos. I've been staying at the apartment for almost a week now. Everyone has been on edge with everything going on. Between keeping those Iron Lords bastards out of our territory and having a brother in the hospital, shit has been chaotic.

Something's been nagging at me, but I can't quite figure out what it is. I think I just need some fresh pussy that isn't part of the club. The cut bunnies are great and all, but they just ain't doing it for me anymore.

About five minutes into my ride, I feel drawn towards a diner called JJ’s Dine-In and decide to stop for a cup of coffee.

Maybe I should just go straight to the garage, I think to myself, stopping where I stand with my hand on the door. That’s when I see her. She has long, dark auburn hair and delicious, pouty lips. I can’t help but think how sexy those lips would look wrapped around my cock. The t-shirt she’s wearing hugs her perfect tits. I can’t take my eyes off her or the way her face lights up with the most beautiful smile.

Shaking my head, I need to clear my thoughts, so I walk into the diner. When I open the door, a bell rings. Just like Rosie’s, I think to myself. This place looks a little more run down than the club's diner.

“Sit wherever you’d like,” she calls out without looking my way. I walk to the counter and sit right in front of her, just as she turns away from me. “I’ll be right with you,” she tells me.

The bell on the door rings again, and an elderly couple walks in. Another girl greets them and meets them at a table by the windows. The girl at the counter turns around to greet me and right away I notice her light grey eyes and freckles dusting her cheeks. She has long, dark eyelashes framing her eyes. She’s got natural beauty, she doesn’t need any make-up.

“What can I get ya?” She’s clearly from Texas. Her accent gives it away. Her voice is as smooth as honey. Just as sweet too.

“Just a coffee, please. Black,” I say.

“It’ll be a minute. I just started a fresh pot,” she says before leaning in a little closer. She smells like something floral, maybe magnolias and oranges mixed with breakfast foods. “It’s the best thing on the menu. Eggs can be hit or miss.” She winks at me and turns around to check on the coffee.

Her left arm has a full sleeve of tattoos. As my eyes travel down her body, resting on her short cut offs. Not so short her ass hangs out, but damn it’s sexy. Her half apron looked like a skirt in the front. Moving my eyes further down, I notice she’s got thick thighs, and her right leg is covered in tattoos too.

Those thighs and that ass, she must do squats religiously. I chuckle to myself. She turns around, and my eyes shoot up to hers. I almost got caught checking her out. Judging by the smirk on her face, she knows exactly what I was doing.

“Here you go,” she says, looking to the left side of my cut before purring out my name. “Raze.” She smiles and saunters away to wipe down the counters. I take my time drinking my coffee, enjoying watching the way she moves.

Once she’s done cleaning up, she saunters back my way, asking if I’d like a refill. I nod, saying please and she fills my cup up. She places the coffee pot back on the burner before leaning against the counter. She looks at me, and I hold her stare. She looks like she’s about to say something but pulls her phone out of her pocket instead. Whatever she sees on the screen has her smiling, and I feel a small ping of jealousy. I wouldn’t mind being the reason behind that beautiful smile.

“Boyfriend texting ya?” I don’t know what possessed me to ask that, it just came out.

“Ha!” she says like it’s absurd. “No, I’m very single. It’s just a friend I used to race with.” Her response causes me to smile wide. I don’t know if it’s because she told me she’s single or because she races. That’s something I’d love to see for myself. I decide to try to dig a little more.

“Race, huh? You mean like street racing?” I ask her. Her eyes sparkle at the mention of street racing.

“Biker boy knows something about the car scene, huh?” She’s a sassy thing. I laugh at her nickname for me and leave it at that. After a minute or two of looking at her phone, her face falls. I frown. She should always smile. She’s too gorgeous not to. I look at my phone to check the time. It’s about time for me to leave.

“Smile, Kitty. Blue doesn't look good on you.” This causes her to look up at me. “I’ll see you around.” I wink at her and drop a couple of twenties on the counter before I leave.

Something tells me those beautiful grey eyes will be on my mind for the rest of the day.

  Chapter Two

  Savannah

I look at the money Raze left on the counter— a $38 tip on a two dollar cup of coffee. I know most of the brothers tip well when they go out. I didn’t realize they tip that well.

“That’s an awful generous tip for a two dollar cup of coffee,” Rivet says, coming up behind me adding, “Don’t think I didn’t notice his cut. He must be pretty new.”

“I was thinking the same thing when I saw it.” I sigh. I always avoided talking about anything having to do with the club whenever Pops or Jager called, so I know nothing about any new brothers
, prospects, or current happenings with the club.

All I know right now is that Jager is in the hospital and he isn’t doing well. Pops called a week ago, and we left the next day. Why have I been home for a week and haven’t told anyone? Because I’m scared. I’m terrified of losing another brother. “Hey, Buster texted me. He and a few of the guys are in town for a visit. They want to see what our race nights are all about.”

“Is it worth risking the brothers seeing us? Are we ready to find out what’s going on with Jager?” she asks, concern lacing her voice. Buster reminded me of that too. Is it worth it? Am I ready to face reality?

“It looks like we’re gonna have to be ready.” I shrug.

A few hours go by, and we finish up at work. We leave the diner and head over to Tink and Lolita’s house. They’re the only ones associated with the club that know we’re in town, but they don’t really count. Rivet and I met them in middle school, and we’ve all been best friends since. We’ve been crashing at their house until we decide to tell the club we’re back. They were total lifesavers and kept our cars for us while we were in Arizona, making it easier to come home without telling the club.
